About foundation

The foundation has been operated following to the principles of Leonard Cheshire International which was founded by Lord Leonard Cheshire who had initially created the foundation by donating his own home as the first residence of disabled in London, England in 1948. At present, “Cheshire home” is expanded to more than 240 homes worldwide with its Headquarters in London, England.

Management work

The Cheshire Far Eastern Region has eight countries, namely, Peoples’ Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand with 30 disabled homes throughout the region with the Secretariat Office in Singapore. The Far Eastern Region holds the Biennial General Meeting to enable the residents to exchange their ideas and trend to develop potentiality of disabled residents including to jointly prescribe the operation orientation to be in the same direction. The biennial meetings are circularly held and hosted by each country resident. Thailand had hosted the biennial meetings in October 1990 at Chiang Mai Province and in November 2004 in Bangkok.
 

History of Foundation

Siri Wattana Cheshire Foundation was founded by Thanpuying Mom Ngamjit Burachat, Khunying Lekha Aphaiwong, Khunying Samanjai Damrongpaettayakhun and Khunying Alma Link. The foundation was graciously accepted to be under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen and named as “Siri Wattana Cheshire Foundation” and legally registered as a public charity organisation in Thailand. 

  • Siri Wattana Home – Samut Prakan

    Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had graciously opened this building on 25 December 2001
  • Thongpoon Home – Rangsit

    The second residence and occupational training center of the disabled of Siri Wattana Cheshire Foundation duly established in 1970
  • Thongyoo Cheshire Home – Chaingmai

    The third home of the foundation duly constructed in 1978
  • Suksamer Home – Cha Am

    Suksamer Home – Cha Am was the 4th disabled home of Siri Wattana Cheshire Home.
  • Itharat Cheshire Home – Roi Et

    The 5th disabled home was established by Siri Wattana Cheshire Foundation to celebrated 60th Her Majesty the Queen in 1992 to care and train occupation to the disabled.

Board of Trustees

Each home has a Chair person who invites government authority, organization and people who are willing to work for charity as the committees to oversee, coordinate and manage the disabled residents and routine works according to the policies of the Board of Trustees under the responsibility of President of the Foundation.

The Board of Trustees and Home Committees have kindly donated their valuable time, effort, spirit and personal properties to the foundation on unexpected remuneration in return.
